Nigeria- 2010 Semi Finalists

Nigeria- 2010 Semi Finalists

I have just read an article on one of the major footballing websites that Pele has tipped Nigeria to reach the World Cup semi final next year in South Africa. This is not a joke and is not a sarcastic dig at Pele or Nigeria, it is really something Pele has said. Despite the fact the Super Eagles are rubbish, Lazy and lacking discapline, the Brazil legend thinks they can reach the last 4. Pele was in the Nigerian capital to drum up support for Brazils bid to host the Olympics in 2016 so i wonder if that had anything to do with his latest prediction. Pele also met president Umaru Musa Yar’Adu.  It will be intersting to see how close he comes to this prediction but in my opinion this will not happen. Nigeria are not even on course to qualify at the moment as lie in 2nd place behind Tunisia so they have allot of work to do if they are to finish top of the group, then win another qualifying round, then finish in the world cup group above a team of similar ability and 2 teams that are allot better, then probbably beat another 2 teams that are allot better than them to get to the last 4.

Pele did go on to mention how African football has become allot nearer the standard of the rest of the world over the last 10 years but i dont think its that close really is it. Did anyone watch the last African Nations Cup. We did see all of the world class superstars that we see play in Europe but the team game is still not there or nowhere near some of the smaller nations in Europe or South America

Classic Milan shirt design

Classic Milan shirt design

This is one of the most iconic Milan shirts. The classic red and black design along with the classic adidas and Italy badge and star makes this a memorable design. AC Milan did not put there club badge on their shirts until the mid to late 90′s.  This particular shirt was only worn for the 1 season and is remembered also for the European cup final which they lost to Marseilles. Milan had one of the best teams europe has seen in the early 90′s and were known for their world class players. Here is the squad from this particular year when they won the league.
Goalkeepers , Sebastiano Rossi, Carlo Cudicini,Francesco Antonioli

Defenders, Franco Baresi, Stefano Nava, Paolo Maldini, Enzo Gambaro, Alessandro Costacurta, Filippo Galli, Mauro Tassotti

Midfielders, Fernando De Napoli, Demetrio Albertini, Franklin Rijkaard, Alberigo Evani, Dejan Savicevic, Stefano Eranio, Ruud Gullit, Zvonimir Boban, Roberto Donadoni

Forwards, Jean Pierre Papin, Aldo Serena, Marco Van Basten, Daniele Massaro, Gianluigi Lentini ,Marco Simone

Wigan Athletic Are Great Value

Ive just been checking the Wigan Athletic website and it appears that their season tickets for the up and coming premier league campaign are priced at £250. So fantastic value from the Latics, you can go and watch premier league football every other week for £13.16 !!! Surely any neutral football fans in the north west would seriously consider this. An exiting season lies ahead with the young Roberto Martinez at the helm backed by the fantastic Dave Whelan. Both have made their mark on the club already as Dave Whelans love for the club and his money helped the club rise from the old 3rd Division into the Premier League in the space of 10 years Between 1995 and 2005.  In 1995 Martinez was attracted to the club along with Isidro Diaz and Jesus Seba. The Spaniards became known as the Three Amigos and were at the forefront of the Whelan revolution of Wigan Athletic.

When you think about it, if you were not that bothered about watching all of the games it is still amazing value, even if you wanted to watch the top 7 teams play at the JJB, Lets say this season it will be Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, Aston Villa, and Manchester City. That would work out at around £35 for each match which would probbably be the cheapest tickest available at any other ground to watch the big teams. Amazing, and thats only watching 7 games.
