Mr and Mrs Lehmann
Jens Lehmann is in hot water again this week after being caught at the famous oktoberfest in Germany after his teams defeat at the weekend. He has now been dropped from the squad for wednesdays game as a punishment for this. Jens though is no stranger to controversy and because of that is one of the most interesting characters still in the game. Throughout his career he has been no stranger to the red card and has been a good enemy to both his team mates and officials but it is not them stories i wanted to mention but another 2 which i think sum up Jens perfectly. The first being the issue that his locals had with him shortly after moving into their beautifull town. Jens moved to the Bavarian town of Berg whilst playing for Stuttgart and then proceeded to make the 250km journey to training every day by helicopter!!!! Yes Helicopter, much to the annoyance of the locals as he tore up the peacefull skies around the area. The daily cost to Lehman was estimated to be around 1000 Euros!!!
The second story i wanted to mention and my absolute favourite is the notorious boot throwing incident. Whilst playing a match against Hoffenheim last season, their striker Sejad Salihovic lost his boot inside of the opposition half during the game. Trying to play on and keep possesion, the player notably carried on without the boot, however when possesion went down the other end, sneaky Jens Lehman wonders out of his area, picks up the boot and throws it onto the top of his net and pretends that he didnt do anything. Amazing, from a man in his mid thirties but still i think this is fantastic. The game will miss him when he retires. If you search on you tube, im sure you will find the video.
