Flashy boots have thankfully been banned by QPR's Academy
Marc Bircham has banned his youngsters from wearing coloured boots at the QPR academy. Marc, who used to play at QPR is now the assistant acedemy manager and is in charge of bringing through the future stars of the club from the age of 9 and right upto the age of 18. Marc thinks that young players today are somewhat different to when he went through the academy system and believes they should earn the right to wear the boots. I think this is a good idea and i imagine that this happens at allot of clubs up and down the country. The youngsters should clean the senior players boots and work hard until they get there chance in the first team, once they have made it, they can wear whatever boots they want, and after all, its not a pair of boots that make the player. Ive always been amused about players who worry to much about what they look like, however i can appreciate players that look after there boots properly (im talking about in the amateur game).
