STEVEN GERRARD IS WORLD CLASS!

As mental as it seems to me, Steven Gerrard is still debated about as not world class! I repeat that NOT world class! Yes there are still weird, ignorant, world cup orientated idiots that actually think that Stevie G is not the or at least one of the top midfielders and or players in the world!

The point for arguing against this is his lack of a league title and no international trophy, but George Best, George Weah and Eusebio to name a few did not win an international trophy either and no one disputes there greatness!

With a record of 14 goals in 72 caps for England (11 of them goals in competitive games and 3 goals in Major competition finals) he looks like a creative player but perhaps not in the same bracket of Zinidine Zidane (108 -31 goals) or Michel Platini (72 – 41 goals) or Johan Cruyff (48 – 33 goals) who are regarded as the greatest attacking midfielders of all time.

However this brings me to the Stat of the Week; when we talk about high level football the Champions League is the pinnacle of football competition. So when I tell you that England’s and in deed Britain’s all time goal scorer in international club football in Steven Gerrard many people will laugh!

We can even go one step further and actually prove that Gerrard is the highest goal scoring Midfielder ever in international club football! So people that debate the worthiness of World Class please look at the following tables and tell me he’s not one of the greatest midfielders the world has ever seen!

All this without mentioning the 2006 FA Cup final or the 2005 Champions League campaign; which he almost single handedly.
